What a night it was!
If you were unable to join us last Friday for the Annual SWCA Holiday Party & Auction, it was quite a party! Many thanks to all of the 370 people in attendance for your participation and the fun we all had!
The Hilton Vancouver Heritage Ballroom was transformed into the Wild Wild West’s SWCA Saloon, complete with two live steer for photo ops on Columbia Street, to the amazing décor, costumes and even a mechanical bull that Cyndi Holloway and Tracey Malone showed us all how to ride!
Our year-end event celebrated what outgoing Board Chair Jerry Sauer dubbed a year of “Embracing Change”. Jerry will highlight all of the changes throughout 2019 in a message to the membership later, but I wanted to hit some highlights of what your Association’s staff will be rolling out in the coming year.
As I shared on Friday night, 2019 has been a year of change. SWCA has experienced a 75 percent staff turnover. We have a new 401k plan and administrator. We have a new retro administrator, and there’s so much more that’s happening. I’d like to take a moment to thank and recognize an amazing team of staff members. Marena Rozmaity, Gina Lange and Ellen Rogers have done great work in not only getting to know the members and the organization, but also dreaming, creating and imagining how we can add value to our membership all the time. As a team, we have new ideas and new programs that we will unveil throughout the coming year. As just one example, I can’t wait for the January 22 Member Open House at the SWCA World Headquarters in Hazel Dell. We welcome you to join us for food, fun and information about the products and services we provide to help your businesses. I’m also happy to announce that we have a plan coming together for a Young Contractors Forum in 2020. And we’re going to debut the first-ever SWCA Suppliers Expo during the Construction Executive Forum in February.
I hope y’all will stay tuned to what’s coming next - and join us in Embracing Change!
