    Monday Musings
    December 30, 2019

Well here we are … the end of another year, so there’s really just one thing to say.

    Happy New Year!

Personally, I’m excited about 2020. It’s a year with big promise for SWCA. The organization has endured a lot of change over the last year. We have tried new things, explored different opportunities, built a new team and set ourselves up for success in 2020.

The first quarter of 2020 is jam-packed with SWCA member value and Marena, Gina, Ellen and I all hope you will join us for some (if not all) of these member events.

Our first Thirsty Thursday of the New Year is set for January 16 at Main Event downtown. Many thanks to the awesome folks at Northwest Bark Blowing for their sponsorship of this event!

Less than a week later, we welcome members to come visit us at the SWCA World Headquarters. It’s our second Member Open House where you’ll have a chance to meet the mostly new staff and learn about your 401k and retro member benefits. We’ll also provide some training on how to maximize use of your MemberZone account to connect with colleagues and promote your events.

Then to kick off February, of course, is our premier education event of the year, the SWCA Construction Executive Summit. If you haven’t yet registered, please do so on our website (www.swca.org/summit). We’ve got a great lineup of speakers and topics.

Speaking of the Construction Executive Summit, I’d like to take a quick moment to recognize one of our newest members, who stepped up to sponsor the reception at the CES. Many thanks go to Gaynors Automotive, which will be in attendance with a gift for those who see them at the reception.

And here’s some really exciting news to end on: Gaynors Automotive is also providing FREE PARKING during the Summit. That’s right, Gaynors is also sponsoring the Fourth Street parking lot, just south of the Webber Building on Columbia Street. The first 70 vehicles to arrive will have free parking all day thanks to Gaynors!

New for the CES is our Supplier Expo. This is a value-add opportunity for our supplier members to have the opportunity to visit with attendees of the CES and is limited to 12 exhibitors from the ranks of our supplier members.

In March, we’ll have our first Contractor Connection of the year. This event is targeted at contractors and subcontractors, 7-9 a.m. on March 25 at a contractor’s location. Stay tuned for more information about that.

That’s just a quick glimpse of the first quarter of the new decade. There’s so much more value to members. Feel free to shoot me a note if you’re interested in more information.

Enjoy New Year celebration! We’ll see you in 2020.
