    Nelson's Monday Musings for January 20, 2020

There’s been a lot of excitement around SWCA the last couple of weeks - and this week is no different!

This Wednesday, your SWCA staff team is excited to host you at our Member Open House, here at the SWCA World Headquarters (7017 NE Highway 99, Suite 214) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. We’ll have some light snacks to help curb the lunch appetite. More importantly, it’s an opportunity for you to meet with our staff, and to learn more about our 401k program, and our Retro program. Additionally, we’ll be able to help you learn how to better utilize your MemberZone account to connect with colleagues, post your job openings and publicize your events in SWCA 101. I’m personally very much looking forward to meeting many of you who I haven’t yet had a chance to meet in person. Please feel free to stop by. It’s free!

We are also working hard to begin finalizing details for the Construction Executive Summit, which is set for Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Hilton Vancouver. Don’t forget the first 70 vehicles to arrive get free parking all day in the Fifth Street parking lot (the lot INSIDE the fence immediately south of the Webber Building on Columbia Street), thanks to Gaynors Automotive.

If you haven’t yet registered for the Summit, there’s still time. Just go to www.swca.org/summit to get more information and to register for the event.

Just last week, we hosted another popular Thirsty Thursday event. Many thanks to our sponsor Northwest Bark Blowing for allowing for such a fun event! The prizes were fantastic, and more than 60 people attended the event at Main Event in downtown Vancouver. Keep an eye out for the next one, on April 23 at Main Event East.

Congratulations are in order, as Columbia Rock Products welcomes a new member to its team. Bob Schnelle has been working in the construction industry for 19 years, working at Pacific Rock Products, Rinker and Cadman. He is excited for this new journey and SWCA is looking forward to his continued support with our association.
