Longtime Community Pillar, Larry O. Collins, Inc. to Cease Operations
Hazel Dell, WA - After forecasting the prospects for future construction opportunities, a mutual agreement between the owners of Larry O. Collins, Inc. and its staff was made to cease operations. The company intends to uphold all of its financial obligations to its vendors.
Larry O. Collins, Inc. was founded by Larry Collins (1908-1999) in 1933. Since then the company has earned the reputation as a strong community supporter, quality builder and respected employer. Larry Collins was one of the original founders of the Southwest Washington Contractors Association (SWCA) in 1947. The group was founded to combine industry resources to improve the professionalism and competitiveness of local contractors. In addition, the company has supported a multitude of local organizations and charities including the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Association and Ducks Unlimited. The company is also associated with the Carpenters Local 1715, Operators Local 701 and Laborers Local 335 Unions.
“This was an extremely difficult and emotional decision to make as the company has been blessed with many excellent employees like Mike Stajgr, a project manager, who has been not only a great asset to the company, but also a great friend for over 33 years. Jerry Burris, our mechanic, who has served the company for over 27 years, and Pat Grimm who has been with us for over 17 years. Our company is full of this kind of dedication. While this is the best decision for us to make, it comes at a very personal cost,” said co-owner Casey Collins.
The company owners will continue to do great things in this community and will measure the potential for resuming work if and when the economic climate improves.
